Orange County Japanese School holds classes on Saturdays from September to July. Japanese language classes, kindergarten through 12th grade, and beginner, intermediate and advance classes (for upper grade students) are offered. Students may be able to earn accreditation for public high school language credits for grades 9th through 12th, pending specific school district approval.
Class periods are 8:30 am to noon. The class day is broken down into 4 class periods with 3 ten minutes recesses. The school year consists of three semesters with report cards are given out at the end of each session. There are about 38 school days with a total of 152 hours of instructions during the year.
Parents are asked to report absences, late arrivals or early dismissals to the Japanese School office by calling (714) 826-2675. Absent students can have their homework mailed home if the student has a Self Address Stamped Envelope on file with the teacher.
Cultural events are also presented periodically throughout the school year.
