Senior troop 881 went to a Boeing soup kitchen activity. First, we unloaded all of the items. Some of the categories were tomatoes, sauces, potatoes, cranberry, fruits, cereal, soup, stuffing, pasta, gravy, green beans, corn, beans, peas, condiments, hygiene items, snacks, and many more. There were labels at each table and we were to put the food where the signs were. Then, people were either to fill boxes with food or be at a station passing out the assigned food for those that had to fill the boxes. They got a list of items I worked with my friend, Lauren Nakahara and helped pass out sauces. I heard that for those that needed Thanksgiving items, the items were gone. Those that had items that were gone, had to replace them with different items. Then they piled the boxes. Usually we give the cans, but this time we got to also pack them. Knowing that packing these items will help feed a family, and put a smile on their face made me feel warm inside. I hope that we will be able to do this activity again.
We wish everyone a very happy new year!
