For the 19th year (out of 20), the OC Susan G. Komen foundation has asked us to perform and support their 20th annual OC Race for the Cure.
This is always an important and special event for us and we invite everyone to participate, even the parents and families.
For taiko players, we manage the event similar to a really long practice with a really, really, really big audience (about 35,000).
We're going to especially need the support of our beginners and intermediate players. Just as with last year, we'll likely arrange Dharma School credit for those who need it. If you need to leave early that's okay too.
For those not playing taiko (or even those that are), you're always encouraged to run/walk in the event. Both of my kids always do. If they can, you can.
And yes, the start time is not a typo. We don't start playing until about 7:15 or so, but the you need to get there extra early due to traffic and parking. 35,000 is a lot of people and cars if you get there too close to the start times.
You can see the race schedule and course map here:

For those like my wife who don't like waking up that early, we always get a room at the Marriott, it happens to be across the street from where we perform.
BTW, we're the Starting Line entertainment.
